Just like that, winter is over and spring has sprung! The winter was cold in more ways than one, so fresh blossoms and sunshine is just what I need! Over the last couple of months, I had a lot of personal things going on in my life and I put my workouts and clean eating on the back burner. Chocolate brownies and ice cream just seemed so much better than barbells and broccoli! But now, I’m recharged and ready to get back in shape. I don’t mind admitting when I take a few falls in my fitness and health journey because I know the power in getting back up!
A change in season has also lead to a change in scenery for my husband and I. We have officially said good bye to Greece and hello to Italy. Over the last couple of years, I’ve gotten used to the idea of being ready to move from one place to the next. Although I will miss the seaside views of Thessaloniki, I’m ready to adventure in Pistoia and Florence for the next few weeks.
We aren’t quite settled in so I don’t have a gym membership yet, but I’m still trying to make better decisions about my food choices and get in some workouts wherever I can. When I’ve got my allergies under control, I take advantage of this sunny spring weather. I gave this core workout a go on the balcony of a bed and breakfast we were staying at our first week in town. It had that whole "oh yeah I'm in Italy forreal" vibe.
All of these exercises begin in the plank position so you will definitely feel the burn in your torso. Since your arms and shoulders lift and level the body out, you will feel the burn in your arms and shoulders as well. Trust me, after a hiatus from the gym, I felt every bit of this workout! It’s a great addition to any cardio, HIIT or weight lifting workout.
Perform each exercise for 30 seconds and rest for 15. Push to complete 3 rounds to really engage those muscles!
