Mocktail Monday: Blackberry Mojito
It's no secret that when a woman gets pregnant, all the crazy hormones, body transformations and life changes are a combination of miracles and magic. But with all the magic, comes all the restrictions. One of the top restrictions, well-known by others, is the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Tequila, rum, mojitos, Pinot Grigio and long island ice-teas are my favorites in the summer. So, I basically watch everyone else turn up their glasses and just sip on my water or juice. Fun stuff. Then one day I realized, even though I have to give up the alcohol, I don't have to give up the vibes!
I've been trying some recipes and first up for Mocktail Monday is a blackberry mojito. This one is the tastiest and closest to my favorite mojitos, not to mention, it's budget friendly: I got all my ingredients, except for the mint leaves, from Aldi for the low-low!
What You Need
makes 1 serving
1/2 cup orange juice
1 cup sparkling water
4-5 fresh mint leaves
1/2 fresh squeezed lime (or 1 tbsp lime juice)
1 tsp honey
What To Do
1. Place blackberries, mint leaves and honey in a small bowl or in the bottom of your serving glass. Use a muddler (or a spoon if you don't have one, like me!) to muddle the ingredients together. I chose to mix in a little bowl, then transfer to my glass.
2. Add in the orange juice, lime juice, and sparkling water to your glass and lightly stir.
3. Add ice cubes and garnish to your liking.
This is a great non-alcoholic alternative to my favorite mojito and I look forward to sharing more of these tasty treats! Do you have a favorite cocktail? Be sure to let me know in the comments. Until next Monday, Cheers!
