Sweet Potato and Turkey Burger Bowl
There's just something about a double cheeseburger with bacon-cheddar fries from Shake Shack that makes my life feel complete. However, if you're trying to stick to those new year resolutions or just trying to maintain a healthier lifestyle like I am, discipline and creativity have to be at an all time high. One of my favorite meals to prep is this Turkey Burger Bowl.
To create this bowl, you can actually use any lean, protein- be it beef, lamb, chicken, turkey, veggie or vegan. Try your best to season with salt-free seasonings like Mrs. Dash, onion powder, garlic powder, or a melody of other flavors. Instead of serving it with a bun or french fries, I added chopped sweet potatoes baked in the oven. I like to add a spring salad mix, tomatoes and a pickle, just as I would a regular burger. Honestly, you can get really creative and add all of your favorite veggies. Here's a fair warning for your toppings though: be mindful of your condiments. Ranch and mayonnaise can have between 70 to 90 calories per tablespoon. One tablespoon of mustard has 7 calories and the fewest milligrams of sodium.
